Background

In 2009, EP Venture held the “Above Challenge” Triathlon Race at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park on September 27, which raised over one hundred and twenty thousand Hong Kong dollars for the Hong Kong Legend Foundation of Hong Kong Red Cross Special Education and Rehabilitation Service.

In 2010, “Above Challenge” is going to start with a new activity, City Orienteering, namely City Chaser, with Raleigh Hong Kong to raise fund for Raleigh Hong Kong and Project Unleash, and raise the awareness of inclusion to the community.

The City Chaser consists of racing routes around Hong Kong tourist, nature, green, and Physically Handicapped and Able-Bodied (PHAB) spots. As our City Chaser aims to integrate people with and without disabilities, we have added a special element to the Competition. As opposed to traditional city orienteering that only include individual and team races, inclusion team races will be held in the “Above Challenge” City Chaser.

Objectives of Above Challenge City Chaser

To raise funds for Raleigh Hong Kong and Project Unleash
To gather the power of sporting spirit from people in Hong Kong and discover their intrinsic motivation through orienteering challenges
To bridge the gap between people with and without disabilities in the community, develop an interdependent support network through teamwork and sportsmanship
To help people with disabilities developing their potential, enhancing their sense of dignity, building self-confidence, and integrating themselves into the community
To promote conservation, green ideas, and introducing the existing high-technology green facilities to the general public

Fundraising Objectives

Raleigh Hong Kong
All donations from the event will be used to support the overseas and local youth development projects organized by Raleigh Hong Kong. They cover a range of community, environmental conservation, scientific researches, and adventure projects.

Project Unleash
Funds raised through “Above Challenge” City Chaser will be utilized to sustain the project that provides opportunities of training and placement for physically challenged youth.
